The 2009 Event
On November 14, 2009, Walla Walla General hospital will hold its annual Gala. This formal affair includes dinner, a live auction, and entertainment by our guest speaker. This year we are proud to welcome Tom Bodett - author and broadcast personality best known for his role as a Motel 6 spokesperson. Bodett also hosts the television series "Travels on America's Historic Trails," a 13-episode travel/history series airing nationally on public television and the Travel Channel. His other broadcast endeavors include the award-winning, syndicated radio programs "The End of the Road" and "Bodett & Company," and he is a frequent panelist on NPR's satirical weekend news quiz, "Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!"
In addition to his seven books and sixteen audio publications, Bodett's writing credits include book reviews for the New York Times and reviews and articles for the Los Angeles Times. His work has appeared in TV Guide, Reader's Digest, Redbook and Harper's Magazine, and he was a regular columnist for Mr. Showbiz, a satirical online entertainment magazine.
The evening of November 14 will be complete with great food at the Marcus Whitman and a live auction featuring Gale Crosby, renowned auctioneer from Portland.
Proceeds to benefit the hospital's acute and surgical centers, which will result in even higher levels of patient comfort, quality care, and improved health and wellbeing.
You won't want to miss this event - and don't worry, we'll leave the light on for you too.
